Innovation promotion

The topic of innovation is of great importance within enable. The main goal is the transfer of knowledge gained in the projects into concrete product or technology innovations as well as social innovations. In addition, innovation also stands for the transfer of knowledge to the food industry in Bavaria and beyond. Our enable approach is to raise awareness for the idea of innovation in the cluster and in the region, as well as the identification and targeted promotion of innovations from within the cluster context. In addition, there will be joint events with the three other BMBF-funded competence clusters in nutrition research (DietBBNutriAct and nutriCARD). We maintain our own innovation office to coordinate and implement all measures.

enable instruments to promote innovation

To raise awareness for the topic innovation, the enable innovation office offers a series of workshops. These are aimed at potential founders, but also at all those interested in innovation in the food and nutrition sector. Special offers are available for enable young scientists at least once a year. We cooperate with  UnternehmerTUM  in Garching, where the innovation workshops take place.

enable organises a panel discussion where all those interested in innovation can meet successful start-up personalities in person and learn first-hand what to consider when spinning off, developing a start-up or registering product and technical innovations, and what special features need to be taken into account in a social innovation in the field.

Together with the Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging IVV, enable invites craftsmen and multipliers such as teachers from vocational schools once a year to the excellently equipped technical centre of the IVV. Here we hold "hands-on" seminars for small and medium-sized enterprises and craft enterprises in the food industry. Subdivided according to sectors, companies in the food industry are informed about the latest and practically relevant developments and can also get to know sector-specific new developments in the IVV's own test kitchen. The topics come from a wide range and extend from "bakery products" and "meat" to "ingredients and additives" and "sensory analysis". With this measure, we are continuing the successful tradition of the first funding period.

The enable partner days are a networking event for cluster members and the food producing business, food trade and food industry on particularly current and promising topics.

The enable innovation vouchers, which have been tried and tested in the first funding phase, are awarded in order to be able to make product improvements to food in the sense of a "healthy food choice". Small enterprises and craft enterprises in the food industry thus receive quick and uncomplicated support from the expertise of the enable-cluster. Applications can be submitted at any time. A jury consisting of members of the enable steering committee decides on the awarding of the vouchers.

As a novelty, enable initiates innovation days with other local actors in Freising. These inform the public about the activities of the various institutions in the field of healthy nutrition, food development and technology and aim to get in touch with local people in order to initiate innovations in the social sphere as well.
